This is the “Daxa Brew”. It so named because we got the recipe from Daxa who I used to work with.
Basically it is to be consumed to fight against colds, flu, sore throats, coughs, chest infections; all that type of stuff.
The ingredients for the brew are as follows:-
- 1½ pints of water
- 2 sticks of cinnamon
- 3/4 peppercorns
- 3/4 cloves
- 1 tablespoon of dried ginger
- 2 teaspoons of fresh ginger, grated
- Jaggery (raw cane sugar) if you have it or honey to taste
Just add all of the above to the water and boil for about 20 mins, strain and drink warm but is more effective if drunk hot.
I would add that I improvise and adapt to produce the brew. So I do not stick exactly to the recipe as stated
When consumed hot it gives a beautiful warming feeling inside. And as a side-benefit when the brew is in the brewing stage it gives a beautiful cinnamon aroma throughout the house.
So the next time you are afflicted with colds and all that lurgy then go try this!
