To venable (verb): To randomly muse upon this and that.

Child Care.

I write further today to develop upon the theme from yesterday about mothers and child care. I want to mention two incidents:

  1. I saw a facebook post recently which indicated how a mother of an eighteen month old son was feeling about having to go back to work after spending a week with her son. She said she was really going to miss him. I know that this person does not have financial stringencies. Accordingly, I was left wondering why are you putting yourself through the pain of being away from your son. There was also a little anger that society would deem that she was making the right choice, but at what cost to her and what cost to her son.
  2.  I also remember working with Emily. She had her only child, a son, late in life. She once said to me that she stayed at home when her  son was young because she wanted to be there when he started asking questions. She wanted to be the one who answered them and not someone else.

Oh mothers if you are able, make a wise investment and give those early years to your children you will not regret it.
