Which of these would you consider to be success in the service of God:
- EITHER To see many people saved or many going on to serve the LORD in pastoral and missionary service: to see a vast church develop through your ministry with large members and a large budget AND the Lord not to be with you.
- OR To see little outward fruit for your service for the Lord, few or no conversions, experience much persecution and suffering, BUT to know that the LORD has been with you.
Which of these are you persuaded is most indicative of success?
(No doubt, in the reality of life and ministry the distinction is not so clear-cut, but it is good to face the question to examine what our motivations are.)
