To venable (verb): To randomly muse upon this and that.

Saved!

Saved! Now that’s a great biblical word. However, it seems to have gone out of fashion. People speak of “becoming a Christian”, “deciding to follow Jesus”, “turning to Christ”, “receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour” and other terms of similar ilk. All these have some degree of biblical acceptability; to an greater or lesser extent.

However, how about giving the word “saved” something of a comeback. Paul writes to his fellow believers in Rome in Romans 10:1 as follows “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.” What a glorious word it is. It tells of our terrible plight as hell-bound sinners and how God in Christ has rescued us. It reminds us of how we now stand secure in the eternal arms of our blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus. It informs us of all that he did that we might be saved. It is truly a grand word.

So fellow believers in Christ let us rejoice in being saved.
